Berkeley’s Step Up Housing

Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony!

Friday, June 13, 2025, 1:30 PM - 1367 University Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94702

We are proud to introduce Step Up Housing, a new vision for supportive housing and healthcare integration.
Step Up Housing combines innovative design, wrap-around services, and smart health technology to restore dignity, stability, and wellness. This project represents the culmination of over eight years of dedication, partnership, and hard work, including landmark legislation to create this one-of-a-kind housing model for our unhoused neighbors.
In collaboration with BOSS, and with support from UC BerkeleyKaiser PermanenteAlameda County, and the City of Berkeley, we’ve delivered 39 thoughtfully designed modular homes for unhoused residents. Each unit is backed by onsite care and service, equipped with health technology integration generously provided by Cherish Health and other partners.
Heartfelt thanks to all our collaborators and esteemed partners. Their steadfast commitment has been instrumental in bringing the initiative to life.
We’re excited to welcome leaders from housing, healthcare, philanthropy, technology, finance, and nonprofits to witness this vision in action. Notable attendees will include Senator Jesse Arreguín, city, regional, and statewide officials, institutional collaborators, the press, leaders of industry, and community champions like you.
Step Up is more than a pilot. What started as a groundbreaking idea is now a reality and a blueprint for cities everywhere.
Join us as we chart a bold new path—where housing combines with healthcare to create a better life for all.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Thank you for electing me since 2016!

This is my Officeholder page.

I am humbled by the opportunity to serve my community.

As a Berkeley native, I am inspired by the people of Berkeley who have worked hard to create this progressive community. My dedication to public service is simply an act of gratitude to pay it back and pay it forward--to them and to the future generations.

Berkeley, like most places, has a growing gap between Opportunity and Affordability, and a deepening conflict between Prosperity and Sustainability. These are the issues of our times. It will take Vision, Ethics and Courage to solve them. I intend to work with my community to make smart policies to bridge the gap and inspire the country.
